UO/OSU Omnium re-cap

The racing season kicked off this past weekend with the UO/OSU Omnium in Eugene and Corvallis.  Both the weather and racing provided an exciting start to the season.

In the Men’s A road race, Adrian Hegyvery took 1st on a solo attack and teammates Grant Boursaw and Danny Koski-Karell followed the pack during the chase, finishing 9th and 14th, respectively.  Davis Shepard then joined them for the team time trail, where they took 2nd.  At Sunday’s crit, Adrian finished 4th and Grant finished 9th.  The overall points earned by the Men’s A riders have put the University of Washington in 1st place in our conference.

The Men’s B time trial team took 3rd and the Men’s D team trial team won by nearly two minutes.

Kimberly Wood, in her first road race ever, placed a strong 12th in the Women’s C road race.

In the Men’s C road race, Ben Dulken attacked at the final hill and managed to hold off a counter-attack for over a mile to claim 1st place.  Teammates Zack Keeler and Tony Azevedo placed 6th and 9th, respectively.

Full results can be found here.  A strong start for Husky Cycling, but there is plenty of more racing to come!
