WWU/UW Omnium re-cap

On Saturday we raced in Bellingham, where we celebrated our last weekend of Spring Break with a frigid rain/snow mix and a hilly race course.

The morning was not ideal for the Men’s A time-trial team: Lauren Johnson’s equipment failure did not allow the team to finish with the required three racers.  Here’s a photo of the malfunction:

In the afternoon’s wet, cold road race, Grant Boursaw earned 5th and Danny Koski-Karell placed 11th.  Grant declared that the race was better than an afternoon at Senor Frog’s in Cancun.  At Sunday’s crit in Seward Park, Adrian Hegyvery placed 1st, Grant placed 3rd, and Danny placed 9th.  Adrian and Grant now hold the top two overall individual rankings in the conference.

In Men’s B racing, Jordan Louie placed 6th in the road race and 12th in the crit.  Michael Armfield placed 6th in Sunday’s crit, in a hotly-contested group sprint finish.

In Women’s C racing, Kim Wood placed 9th in the road race.  Kim and Marjike Smith finished 3rd in the team time trail.

In Men’s D racing, Marc Schwartz placed 8th in the road race and Brian Wright placed 12th.  Marc dropped the hammer on Sunday, however, winning the crit.  Teammates Brian and Mike Barre placed 4th and 10th, respectively.  On Saturday morning, they won the Men’s D team time trial.
