Team Meeting

We will have our first team meeting at 7:30pm on Monday, October 6th, in Room 209A in the HUB.  The meeting will cover a wide range of topics like the goals of the club, schedule for the year, and developing bike advocacy programs.  It is also the best time to pay dues and become a member.

Meet-the-Team Ride

This Saturday, September 27th, is the first team ride of the year.  This is a great chance to meet current members and check out what Husky Cycling is all about.  Riders of all skill levels and interest are welcome; the ride will be at conversational pace and have a no-drop policy.  Along the ride, there will be a couple stops and points to turn around so people can cater the ride to their schedule.

We will meet at 10am at the north end of the HUB.  There will also be another ride on Sunday, September 28th, at the same time and place, as well as every subsequent Saturday and Sunday.

Husky Cycling presents “Remember 2 Breathe”!

This Friday, September 19th, Husky Cycling presents “Remember 2 Breathe” by Evan Schmitt.  The documentary provides an inside look at the people who make up the sport of cycling, from the grassroots to top-tier racing.

The screening begins at 7pm in the Walker Ames Room (Room 225) in Kane Hall, located on the north side of the University of Washington’s Red Square.  $10 for entry and refreshments; $15 for entry, refreshments, and beer with proper ID.  Everyone is welcome!

September Announcement

September, and the start of the school year, is the time to kick-off another year of Husky Cycling!

We’ll be launching the Fall season with two events:

On Friday, September 19th, (two weeks from today!) Husky Cycling be screening a documentary made by team member Evan Schmitt.  There will be food and drinks, as well as a chance to meet other team members and members of the general Seattle cycling community.  7pm in the Walker-Ames Room in Kane Hall off of Red Square.  A flyer is attached; feel free to pass it along to friends–everyone is welcome.

On Saturday, September 27th, we’ll have our first meet-the-team ride.  We’ll leave from the north end of the HUB at 10am.  It will be a no-drop ride and the pace will be conversational.  This is a great chance to (re)connect with new and old friends and find out what the club is all about.

Looking ahead, we’ll have a general team meeting in October to discuss the coming year, including kit orders, in more detail.  We’ll also be starting week-day training rides in October.  More on this to come.

Finally, I want to pass along a new, great resource for cycling in our area: http://www.cyclingnw.com/
